About

I am Dr Charlie Ball, and up until November 2014 was the Deputy Director of Research at the Higher Education Careers Services Unit,  the charitable arm of Graduate Prospects. Then we had a restructure and I moved over to Prospects in much the same job as Head of Higher Education Intelligence.

I’m a specialist on the research and dissemination of UK higher education data, particularly on the jobs market. I’m an active researcher into a range of issues concerning graduates at all levels, a very active presenter to a wide variety of audiences, and an advocate for the use of higher education data for evidence, and for accuracy in reporting higher education statistics, especially in the media.  I also run HECSU’s blog (which is still going, by the way, and which often crosses over with here).

This is my personal blog and is largely for trying out new ways to disseminate stats, for discussion of issues arising through my research and presenting work and for personal opinions on graduate topics.

All opinions are my own, not HECSU or Graduate Prospects’.
